What happened to Edloe?
| QUESTION: What happened to Edloe? |
ANSWER: She died near the end of June 2005. The vet had a blood sample from her that suggested extremely elevated liver function, so it was likely Fatty Liver Disease or some other obesity-related illness. On her last Sunday evening she was a bit more sluggish than usual. Also, some tapeworms appeared to be "abandoning ship" in large amounts. After keeping a close watch on her from the catcams that Monday, she also didn't want to eat or drink anything when I got home from work. Her refusing treats was a clear sign something was wrong. I took Tuesday off and took her to the vet, who administered a tapeworm medication and suggested pills for the nausea. Edloe wouldn't take the pills, so we were back to the vet for an anti-nausea shot. She went downhill rapidly from there, hanging on until her mommy came home and siezing up after one last trip to the sunny patio. Edloe died as we were heading to the emergency vet clinic in my wife's arms in the passenger seat. To this day, I will not listen to that "You just died in my arms tonight" song. |
