What kinds of cameras have you tried before?
| QUESTION: Here are the cameras that didn't quite cut the mustard... Sony SNC-M1W. Seemingly inexpensive wireless camera that can FTP and auto-adjust. Annoying bracket-stand, but at least the camera's industry-standard thread. A pain in the ass to confire the wireless for and the stand is a pain in the ass. Doesn't handle low light for crap. Uptime limited to 24 hours when the web server on it freezes up, not even allowing remote reboot. Needs hard reboot at unit, making remote operation hard at best. Dynex WC-100. Cheap USB 1.1 piece of crap from Best Buy with a worthless focus ring and a crappy stand. The drivers were extremely flaky, too. Creative Labs NX. Very cheap USB 1.1 that flaked out with the slightest variation of USB bandwidth. Neck on stand was loose and could not be docked to a real stand. Cheap China Cam. No-name IR camera on EBay that didn't work at all with any other cameras. For nine bucks, it wasn't worth every penny. Feeding IR straight from USB also hogged the power on that hub. Micro-Innovations IC435C. Awful focus, fuzzy image, never quite stable on USB 2.0 and needed 1.1 to work. Also, the clip-stand didn't have much of a crip. Hewlett-Packard WebCam USB. USB 1.1 crap, with a focus ring that's impossible to keep set. Lousy plastic base. |
